The UX Shop respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.

Summary

  • We collect minimal data necessary to operate the site
  • We don't sell your information to anyone
  • We don't track you across the web
  • Newsletter subscriptions are optional and easy to cancel

Information we collect

When you browse the site

We collect basic server logs that include:

  • IP address (anonymized after 30 days)
  • Pages visited
  • Browser type and version
  • Referring website (if any)
  • Date and time of visit

This information helps us understand how the site is used and identify technical issues. We don't use this data to identify individual visitors or build profiles of browsing behavior.

When you subscribe to the newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect:

  • Your email address

That's it. We don't require your name, location, or any other information. Your email is used only to send you the newsletter you requested.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive:

  • Your email address
  • Your message content
  • Any attachments you include

We use this information to respond to your inquiry. We don't add people who contact us to marketing lists.

When you use our tools

The tools on this site (like the heuristic review checklist) run entirely in your browser. We don't collect, transmit, or store any data you enter into these tools. Your data stays on your device.

How we use information

Server logs: To monitor site health, identify errors, understand usage patterns, and improve the site. We don't use logs for advertising or tracking purposes.

Newsletter subscriptions: To send you the monthly newsletter. We track whether emails bounce (to maintain list hygiene) but don't track opens or clicks.

Contact form submissions: To respond to your message. We may keep correspondence for reference if you have ongoing questions.

Information sharing

We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We may share information in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use Cloudflare for hosting and security. They process requests to serve the site but don't use your data for their own purposes.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, we would comply with valid legal requests for information.

Cookies and tracking

We use minimal cookies necessary for site functionality:

  • Session cookies: Temporary cookies that help the site function. These are deleted when you close your browser.

We don't use:

  • Advertising cookies
  • Third-party tracking cookies
  • Analytics that track individual users
  • Social media tracking pixels

Data retention

  • Server logs: Retained for 90 days, then deleted
  • Newsletter subscriptions: Retained until you unsubscribe
  • Contact emails: Retained for up to 2 years for reference, then archived or deleted

Your choices

Newsletter: Unsubscribe anytime using the link in any newsletter email. Your address is removed immediately.

Cookies: Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. The site will still work, though some features might not function perfectly.

Contact data: Email us at hello@theuxshop.com to request deletion of any correspondence.

Security

We use HTTPS for all connections. Subscriber emails are stored securely with access limited to those who need it to operate the newsletter. See our security page for more details.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll note the update date at the top of this page. For material changes affecting newsletter subscribers, we'll send an email notification.
